The alpaca worsted-weight yarn I ordered on Wednesday showed up today (that was fast, even coming from Canada), and it is gorgeous. I just am beside myself. The color is so dark that it might be taken for black, but in the light it shows up as a deep, blood red. Pretty much exactly the color of a garnet. I'm so used to colors more like a ruby red being called garnet I had figured it was not such a deep red. It is soft and fine and such a luxurious color. My thought is to knit a v-neck cardigan with a satin ribbon closure with it. I must finish the afghan, the hat for Michael and the crochet edging for the cardigan for Arabella I knitted back in January, before I can start on a cardigan. I wonder if I can teach Arabella to do garter stitch so she can work on the afghan. After all, she is probably going to run off with it and wrap her bears in it once it's done.
Arabella helped out with grocery shopping this morning, and is now eating a hearty lunch of crackers with cream cheese and pears. At two she already has the "I haven't got a thing to wear" syndrome. She unloaded all the drawers in her bedroom (that she could reach) and insisted I help her find a dress, but turned down every one. When I told her that was all, she picked through the pile, and settled for her green and pink stripe hanna anderson dress. Never mind that its heavy cotton knit and long sleeved and that its 86 and humid out. It wasn't the pretty party dress or the short sleeved floral hanna anderson (her two favorites), since those are both in the wash, but it was acceptable.
