Why We Like Pasta

I get asked ferquently how Arabella is taking to the idea of having a baby sister. I think most people asking think that she is unhappy about the situation, or already showing jealousy. It's hard for a 3 year old to be jealous of something that hasn't appeared yet. Actually she is very excited, and has been trying to help me to put together baby stuff. She's looking forward to Mommy being able to pick her up again (the fact that she is less than 2 feet shorter than me not entering into her consciousness of why it is difficult for me to lift her), and run (rather than amble slowly) around the backyard.

But mostly, she is pretending to be pregnant too. She loves eating rotelli pasta, and then telling me she has macaroni babies in her tummy, and can feel them wiggling around. I tried to once explain that you don't get a baby in your tummy by eating it, but decided almost immediately to leave that discussion for a later date, so now I just agree with her macaroni baby assessment.

Arabella is part Italian, which may explain to some degree her love for all things pasta, garlic, sausage, and mozzarella cheese, but I didn't realize that Italian babies were made of pasta.
In other news
I have finished the knitting on a baby doll sweater forArabella's bitty baby to match the sweater I made for the Bean. I just have to sew up the seams and the ribbon closures. I'm planning on making a little sling for her to carry bitty baby around. She has a stroller and a carrying basket for the baby doll. She's probably better prepared than I am.

The Bean is not kicking so much as squirming and wriggling lately, it is entertaining to watch my belly move about. I am swollen in the ankles, to the point where I only just recognize the peanut toes at the ends of my fet, but not anything from arch to knee as being mine. And I have developed a mild summer cold, in the middle of a heat wave. I'm trying to keep my feet up as much as possible, but it is not easy. And my appetite is dwindling again, so I am planning to make an apple pie today or tomorrow (sh, don't tell the Man, I want to surprise him).

The ceramic project is very nearly done, and would have been much closer had I not glazed a piece that was due for shooting in bisque stage. I realized my mistake before it was fired, but I wasted an hour of work and felt like an idiot. Tomorrow is my last planned day of working on the project, we will see how it turns out.
