Warming trend

The bitter cold is over ( for now, at least) and we have moved into what is locally called spring, and I will always think of as California winter. The only floral fatalities I have had with the sudden warm and equally sudden cold were the ferns, but even they have started putting up new growth. Everything else (berries, peonies, lilies, etc) just seems to have held its breath and stopped growing, and now that it is a tad above freezing and raining, they are all looking just fine.

I have had to dig out maternity clothes, since although I have lost weight so far in this pregnancy, my belly is swelling. I'm not sure where the weight is coming off, since all I can see of myself is expanding chest and abdomen, but the scale says ... I am horrified by the selection of maternity clothing on the market this year, it seems to mostly be hideously cute. Mom suggested I make some clothes (right, more expensive and time consuming? I'd rather make clothes for Arabella) but the few maternity patterns available are even more ugly than what you can buy. Maybe my tastes have changed in 4 years, but I am not enthused about shopping for belly clothing.

But you are so cutesy! ;) I of course had a hard time finding maternity clothing that reflects my true self, dark and mysterious. LOL! Good luck, if you keep looking I am sure you'll find some good stuff. =)
