Changes in Preschool

I have sad news to relate. This past week, along with the joys of returning to preschool and imminent sisterhood, Arabella has outgrown her nap. The sad part of this is that I have not outgrown napping (nor has the Man, we think she must be some weird genetic throwback). So on pain of death we instituted the 90 minute "Quiet Time" yesterday. And yesterday was a bust. I got worse than no nap -- 3 interrupted naps, the longest was about 15 minutes, just long enough for me to wake up with fangs and large waving antennae.

But Arabella seems to be doing fine with it, and we last night there was no frisking about the bedroom at all hours. Today, my nap was fine, and Arabella seems to be learning the definition of "playing quietly", where yesterday she seemed to think playing her glockenspiel extra slow would be OK.

Ah, the soothing sounds of the glockenspiel played by a three year old. . . slowly. . . and deliberately.

I hear that in some third world countries four year old are sent to work in the mines or, st least, the Nike factories.
