Sabine has been going to bed easily this week, after 3 nights of crying, and crying very little (especially when compared to Arabella, who after 6 months of sleep training would still stand in the crib and wail for 20 minutes just to make sure I knew she could, and can still hit a wall and cry over not getting a second story at bedtime).
So yesterday I bragged to my knitting friends that Sabine now goes right in the crib and goes to sleep without a whimper. (not being parents themselves, they were only mildly impressed)
To my friend and fellow-mommy-of-small-children Jen I crowed that she goes right back to sleep without protest, only waking twice a night.
To other moms at preschool I jubilated in the newfound evenings of leisure.
So of course last night Sabine howled. Only for 4 minutes, but still...
I'll be keeping quiet about sleeping habits from now on.
A few weeks ago my knitting buddies and I noticed the new Starbucks decor was red shiny balls and green balls of yarn. We thought this was amazing. One of the barristas came over and said that when they saw the new decorations that he commented "The yarn ladies are going to shit a brick!"
Last night, Shawn, the manager came to our table with a fistful of wooden stir sticks and an extra yarn ball wreath. He had managed to procure an extra, and wanted to have us draw stir sticks to see who would take it home. And I drew the short stick! Wow!
So now I have a Starbucks wreath, no idea where or how to hang it, and am worried people will think I've been stealing the decor from Starbucks!

Oh, I have learned and relearned that same lesson. It's best to never talk about sleep when it is going well!
