Some years back we lifted a page from Walter's parenting playbook and start off the bath and bedtime ritual with a call-back:
What time is it?
It's bath-time!
What time is it?
It's bath-time!
Rubber ducky in the house!
Quack-Quack-Quack-Quack!
Rubber ducky in the house!
Quack-Quack-Quack-Quack!
Arabella knows it well, and now Sabine is starting in too.
What time is it?
Baa-taa!
What time is it?
Baa-taa!
Last night was a bit of a mess. After I turned out the lights, Sabine just gyrated in my lap, not sleeping. After about 45 minutes there was a tentative knock at the door, and Arabella came in. "Mommy, when are you reading my stories, I've been waiting forever!" I told her that she had to go back down stairs, Daddy would read her stories, and then I sang her favorite lullaby, Fourteen Angels. Sabine, having seen her buddy, struggled to get out of my lap. About 20 minutes later she was asleep, Arabella was in bed and Michael and I breathed again.
Sabine woke several times, mostly because she had lost the paci, and she seemed to sleep more lightly than usual, but she stayed more or less in sleep mode until 7:15. Not great, but not awful.

One thing- you and the man will never be bored with those two in the house! Hope you had a great Thanksgiving- and we will be coming over soon. I think...
