I got tagged for a meme by Jen at Letters about Eve, I am supposed to list 6 unimportant / trivial / odd traits about myself, and then tag some other unsuspecting schmoes. I don't think these will come as a surprise to anyone who knows me, but here goes:
1. I don't like eggs, but I am finding I am less repulsed by them since having kids than I used to be. Still, don't offer me a plate of scrambled eggs. Yuck. Even the meringue on pie tastes too egg-y to me. I do like quiche, though, but if you add enough cheese, onions, and bacon to anything ...
2. I can read several books concurrently without mixing them up. I also read really fast, which is helpful for many things.
3. I like rain. Probably because growing up in L.A. it was a rare and wonderful thing, and I loved the way everything smelled so fresh after the rain, but I love when it rains.
4. My hands are double-jointed. I can lay my thumb completely flat against my wrist, or bend just the first joint of all my fingers. The down-side is that my fingers will bend almost backwards, making it hard to hold down a stiff button on a kiln pilot, as I have had to do often.
5. When I get nervous or excited I talk too much (I told you this wouldn't surprise anyone who know me). When I get entirely furious I don't talk at all. I can't always look someone in the face when I am listening to them, because I start thinking about the structure of their face, and lose track of what she or he is saying.
6. I am pretty lazy when it comes to fashion. I wear a lot of black because it goes with everything and doesn't go out of style. I wear motorcycle boots because they are durable studio shoes. I hate getting my hair cut.
OK, I tag Frank and Jen R.
Maybe he's selling them
Since learning how to knit 3 years ago I have knit 3 hats for Michael. First was the Funky Ski Hat from Hollywood Knits, which came out WAY too big, so he rarely wore it. Second was a Ribbed Watch Cap made from a yummy, bulky super-warm alpaca yarn I bought at the State Fair. He wore it often but it kept disappearing. At one point I found it stuffed under the seat of the pick-up truck. Then I knit a hat for myself knitted from Noro Silk Garden (wool/ silk blend, I know, the stuff is just as expensive as it sounds), which he really liked and I graciously gave him, and made another for myself. That one just disappeared.
I haven't learned. I am currently knitting a 4th hat for him, a brimmed watch cap, in olive green Merino wool. I have frogged the Funky Ski hat and I'm preparing to knit it over again (smaller, so it actually fits his head). The only warm hat he hasn't lost is a poly-fleece watch cap I got him one Xmas from Land End. Maybe I will make a little string on the newest hat and sew it to his coat ...
