Happy Birthday

Today is Arabella's birthday, and she likes the Lincoln Logs. Not as much as her train set, but, well, what do you want, she's 3. We tried building the Lincoln Log town for the trains to drive through. Passable.

Grumpy (now Poppy) arrived last night, after some confusion. I haven't finished making his hat so he is wearing the Noro hat that Michael absconded with last month, forcing me to make another (the one with Entrelac). Dad's hat is nothing fancy, a version of the basic hat from Knit Cafe, with garter border and earflaps. It's a version since he has a biger head than the pattern describes. I think Michael is wearing the alpaca watch cap, much warmer in this weather.

Arabella is feeling much better since starting the antibiotics, and had a blast at school yesterday. The teacher was out (something about her livingroom ceiling collapsing due to the storm) so we had 6 kids and 5 parents. Good thing too, since I got mini brownies at Costco and even with all the extra mouths and seconds we only ate 1/3 of the box.

This picture was taken in October, and if you look, you can see the mantis in the background, trying to crawl up the siding from the porch. Arabella was trying to help with the photo.

What a great picture. I can just see her leaning in to see what Mom is doing with the camera. Would you send the high resolution file of this shot to me? I think it would look good on the 'fridge.
